Winegrowers and spirituality: here’s a subject that’s hardly ever discussed publicly! “The 21st century will be spiritual or it won’t be”: this phrase is often attributed to André Malraux (a French writer, also adventurer and politician). We’re so inundated with information that, at some point, we have no choice but to connect with the heart. Which, of course, we all do! And winemakers, of course, connect with wine – In Vino Veritas! A quote that has been with me for years.
Connecting yourself to your vineyard and estate
Here’s an anecdote to illustrate my point:
A winemaker called me at the end of January. He contacted me, angry, saying that making videos to sell wine doesn’t work!
He had entrusted his girlfriend with the task of making a video herself, even though she was several months pregnant. She must have had other things on her mind at the time.
Besides, why didn’t he make the film himself, since it’s his domain and not his partner’s?
And here he is, telling me that he didn’t believe in it from the start anyway!
It’s enough to make my heart skip a beat!
Instead of thanking his friend, encouraging her and telling her how beautiful she is and how proud he is of her… Here he is, simply asserting that video wine sales don’t work.
Knowing how to be grateful and connect with the heart
And yet, his partner made a superb film! But with only one achievement, how could it work?
You have to learn to accept what others do for you!
In the end, everything is spiritual, and everything is linked to the heart.
It’s important to remember that in 2023… everything will be sold via video.
This is also the case for wine, even if the wine world remains a little conservative and may find it a little harder to get into this channel.
One thing’s for sure: with video, you can’t lie.
So you need to be passionate about your craft and your vines to sell your wine well.
Heal your heart to balance your emotions
Making videos forces you to heal your heart and have a love of wine.
This is what will help you to balance your emotional charges and forget what went wrong.
There’s a lot to be discouraged about with the vagaries of the weather and all the rest, I agree!
We’ve been through a lot, but all these trials and tribulations allow us to go on to greater heights! My experience as a futurist proves this every day.
As long as you do things from the heart, are consistent and take long-term action, things will get better for you and your winery.
Of course, the ball is in your court.
